Maximin fairness with mixed divisible and indivisible goods

چکیده
We study fair resource allocation when the resources contain a mixture of divisible and indivisible goods, focusing on well-studied fairness notion maximin share (MMS). With only full MMS may not exist, but constant multiplicative approximate always does. analyze how approximation guarantee would be affected to allocated also goods. In particular, we show that worst-case with mixed goods is no worse than However, there exist problem instances which adding some strictly decrease ratio instance. On algorithmic front, propose constructive algorithm will produce an $\alpha$-MMS for any number agents, where $\alpha$ takes values between $1/2$ $1$ monotone increasing function determined by agents value relative their values.

Groupwise Maximin Fair Allocation of Indivisible Goods
We study the problem of allocating indivisible goods among n agents in a fair manner. For this problem, maximin share (MMS) is a well-studied solution concept which provides a fairness threshold. Specifically, maximin share is defined as the minimum utility that an agent can guarantee for herself when asked to partition the set of goods into n bundles such that the remaining (n− 1) agents pick ...
متن کاملMonetary Equilibria with Indivisible Goods∗
This paper uses a New Monetarist framework to study the trade of indivisible goods with divisible money in a frictional market. We first derive conditions under which stationary equilibrium exists, and then show that if equilibrium exits, it is unique. The uniqueness result is due to the commitment and coordination nature of the pricing mechanisms. Money is superneutral in the model with genera...
متن کاملSubstitute Valuations with Divisible Goods∗
In a companion paper, we showed that weak and strong notions of substitutes in economies with discrete goods have different implications for auction theory and equilibrium theory. In contrast, for the divisible goods case with concave valuations, natural extensions of these concepts coincide. Concave substitute valuations are characterized by submodularity of the dual profit function over nonli...
متن کاملManipulation Games in Economics with Indivisible Goods
In this paper we study the strategic aspects of the No-Envy solution for the problem of allocating a nite set of indivisible goods among a group of agents when monetary compensations are possible. In the rst part of the paper we consider the case where each agent receives, at most, one indivisible good. We prove that the set of equilibrium allocations of any direct revelation game associated ...
متن کاملDynamic Recontracting Processes with Multiple Indivisible Goods∗
We consider multiple-type housing markets with strict preferences. To capture the dynamic aspect of trades in such markets, we study a dynamic recontracting process as introduced by Serrano and Volij (2005). First, we analyze the set of recurrent classes of this process as a (non-empty) solution concept. We show that each core allocation always constitutes a singleton recurrent class and provid...
